How do I receive WhatsApp Web notifications on Safari?

You can receive notifications of new messages when using WhatsApp Web. Notifications will appear on the right side of your computer’s desktop.

There are several reasons why you do not receive notifications from WhatsApp Web:

• You have not yet enabled notifications from WhatsApp Web in Safari.
• You have blocked notifications from WhatsApp Web in Safari.
• You have temporarily turned off alerts and sounds for all notifications from WhatsApp Web.
• To enable notifications from WhatsApp Web
• Select Enable desktop notifications in the blue box at the top of the chat list.

Follow the on-screen instructions and select Allow to enable notifications from WhatsApp Web.

If you don’t see the blue box, try refreshing the page. If you continue to not see the field, you may have disabled or blocked notifications from WhatsApp Web.

To allow WhatsApp Web to send notifications

• In the Safari browser, go to Settings.
• Under the Notifications line, find web.whatsapp.com and make sure that Allow is selected.
• If Failure is selected next to web.whatsapp.com, clear the checkbox by selecting Allow.
• Click on Notification Settings ..., then select Do Not Disturb and make sure that this feature is turned off.
• In the same window, select Safari in the menu on the left. Make sure Banners or Alerts are selected as the reminder style.
• Go back to WhatsApp Web, now you should be able to see notifications from WhatsApp.
• To disconnect notifications from WhatsApp Web
• You have the option to completely disable notifications from WhatsApp Web or disable them for a specific time.

To completely disable notifications, start WhatsApp Web, click on the Menu button, select Notifications, turn off Sounds and Alerts on the desktop.
To turn off notifications for a specific time, go to Notifications> Turn off alerts and sounds on ... and select the desired time period.
If you want to enable notifications again, just click on the Disabled notifications icon next to the New chat icon.

Attention: your phone has the Silent function for group chat notifications. If you turn off the notification sound for a group on your phone, the sound will be muted on WhatsApp Web as well. All other settings on the phone and computer are independent of each other.
