Deleting inactive WhatsApp accounts

In the digital world, there are times when we create accounts on various platforms and then leave them inactive for a long period. However, this inactivity can lead to the deletion of your account in some cases, WhatsApp being one such platform.

WhatsApp's Policy on Inactivity

WhatsApp is committed to maintaining an active user community. As such, it has implemented a policy of deleting accounts after a certain period of inactivity. According to WhatsApp's policy, an account is considered inactive if the user does not connect to the WhatsApp service for 120 days.

What Triggers Deletion of an Account?

Three main factors can trigger the deletion of your WhatsApp account:

  1. Internet Connection: If you don't connect your WhatsApp account to the internet for 120 days, it is considered inactive.

  2. No Login Activity: If you do not log in to your account for 45 days and the account has not been registered on a new device, it can be deleted.

  3. Unregistered Number: If a number has been re-verified on WhatsApp after 45 days of last using WhatsApp, and without using the same device, then the previous account tied to that number will be deleted.

Can You Reactivate an Inactive WhatsApp Account?

Once an account has been deleted due to inactivity, it cannot be recovered. You'll have to create a new account with your phone number. Remember that you'll lose your chat history, as WhatsApp does not store your messages on their servers.

To avoid losing your WhatsApp account, ensure to connect to the service periodically. While WhatsApp does not provide a way to protect your account from deletion due to inactivity, regular use will keep your account safe.
